Training sessions focus on how to identify the two domains of Instructional and Behavioral Management and their associated nine dimensions in professional practice. An in-depth explanation of each item on the Classroom Strategies Assessment System is coupled with both video-based examples and live modeling. Sample professional development reports as well as real classroom applications of the Classroom Strategies Assessment System in schools are discussed.

Teachers will learn how to use the CSAS – Teacher Form to identify professional development goals, implement effective teaching strategies, and monitor progress toward achieving their goals. Teacher participants are also provided with an in-depth explanation on how the CSAS – Observer Form and Teacher Form work together to drive professional development.

Observers will participate in a series of activities designed to promote accurate coding and reliability when observing teachers with the CSAS. Observers are required to successfully complete certification tests both during and after training sessions. Certification ensures that observers demonstrate reliability when using the instrument to observe teachers, as well as utilize CSAS scores to effectively drive teacher professional development and growth
Observer certification is required for school districts who wish to use the Classroom Strategies Assessment System [CSAS] in their evaluation systems and professional development programs. The Classroom Strategies Assessment System [CSAS] certification program ensures that observers demonstrate adequate reliability and accuracy when using the CSAS to observe teachers. Certified users of the CSAS must successfully pass a series of measures designed to assess their knowledge of and reliability when using the CSAS.
Observers must first attend the Classroom Strategies Assessment System - Observer Training three-day workshop. During training, observers must complete a brief assessment on the content knowledge of the effective teaching practices found within the CSAS. Following successful completion, observers must then pass a series of video-based coding assessments designed to measure their accuracy and reliability when observing classrooms with the CSAS.
Certified CSAS observers must recertify each year to maintain certification status.
